Mavericks News · Touchdowns against Cancer – 9/15/2018 vs. Roosevelt

Maverick and Roughrider fans. Tomorrow’s game will be a fantastic matchup between two rivals. It will also be about more than just football. September is Touchdowns against Cancer Month nation wide, a movement to help defeat childhood cancer and both schools have decided to make this match-up an opportunity to support TAC.

Both football communities have banded together to help raise money for a family in need. The Olson family from Johnstown recently had their 6 year old daughter, Delaney, diagnosed with Wilms’ tumor in her kidneys. Though the surgery has been performed and the prognosis is looking great, this amazing girl still has radiation and chemotherapy to follow.
We will be collecting money at the end of each of the first 3 quarters tomorrow to benefit the Olson family and Delaney. Cheerleaders and student reps will be coming through both stands tomorrow to collect the funds. 100% of the money raised during the game will go directly to the family. Please consider giving money to help this family in need. If you are unable to attend the game or don’t have cash, please visit their go-fund me page.
If you would like to donate money to the national organization, the Mead Football team has a page where the money goes directly to St. Jude’s hospital and research.
Regardless of the outcome of the game tomorrow, this game will help a family in need. Can’t wait to see both schools pack Mead Stadium tomorrow at 7:00PM
